Wrong Facial Cleansing Methods

I'm lazy and I am not a big fan of makeup.

It does help and the main reason for this is my laziness of removing makeup. As you all know, cleansing is the first step for skin care. Since removing makeup is more important than makeup, women taking care of their skin devote to thorough cleansing every night. Not only removing makeup but accumulated dirt and impurities in and on your skin throughout a day must be removed in order to protect your skin.

Cleansing is this much important. However, watch out for wrong ways while cleansing your face because incorrect cleansing can make your skin even drier and rougher. Now is the time for you to review how you've cleansed your face.

7 Wrong Cleansing Methods

1. "Cleansing is too troublesome" - Loosely cleansing type with no foam!

Cleansing is not to rub your face aggressively with your palms but to use foam. In other words, foam acts like a cushion so it prevent skin irritation that can be done by palms. When cleansing, more and thicker foaming means less irritation and can cleanly cleanse your face. Therefore, after you squeeze out cleansing foam on your palm, take enough time to make foams using your both hands. In addition, even before making these foams, wash your hands first. Cleansing foams made by dirty hands contain wastes.

2. "Longer rubbing massage is always better" - Timing of rubbing your face is too long!

Cleansing products containing oils need 2-3 minutes of massage. But this doesn't mean that more than 3 minutes of massage will make your face more clean. Rather, too much rubbing cause skin irritation and makeup leftovers absorbed by the cleanser might be back to your skin. The best cleansing products are to dissolve makeup quickly, not to curdle with skin and to be easily rinsed off with water.

3. "Hard rubbing makes me feel secure" - Cleansing with rough texture!

Hard rubbing massage in order to eliminate wastes is an old-fashioned idea. Hard rubbing irritates, dehydrates skin, lowers skin elasticity and accelerates the aging of the skin. If you'd like to do deep cleansing, use different methods such as covering your face using a warm steamed towel in order to open your pores and then cleanse impurities in opened pores. If you have severe keratin problems, you may use effectively working exfoliators. (Warning: Avoid the areas of eyes and mouth where skin's stratum corneum is thinner and metabolism rate is lower than other areas of your face) After deep cleansing, make sure to tighten your pores back by splashing with cold water and applying skin toners for oily skin type.

4. "I feel clean wash after wash" - Repetitive cleansing type!

Some people boast about their 5-6 steps of cleansing skin care. But they might be rather harmful to your skin. Cleansing is a process of eliminating wastes on your skin. But the above skin care method may absorb even necessary moisture from your skin. Excessive cleansing cause your skin drier and even more sensitive so avoid several steps of cleansing. Distinguish between point makeup and base makeup. Then using your best cleansing product, double cleansing is the best cleansing method.

5. "I use cold water to prevent pores from getting bigger" - Cold water cleansing type!

I've mentioned in my other articles that splashing with cold water tightens your pores. Some people are too afraid of their pores to become enlarged so they wash with cold water. This is a wrong knowledge. Cold water does not remove impurities on your face. This contributes to more accumulation of wastes and impurities so the consequence is the opposite of what you wanted to prevent. Enlarged pores.... This is why the proper method of cleansing is to use warm water with foam cleanser first.

6. "I use only water for morning cleanse" - Dry skin using only water for morning cleanse!

Our skin is contaminated while sleeping from sebum and impurities in the air. Morning cleanse is the beginning step of taking care of your skin. Thoroughly cleansed face absorbs moisture and makeup more effectively.

7. "I remove makeup right before sleep" - Cleansing right before going to bed type!

The basic of basics is to remove makeup right after coming back home from outside. However, one of the most common excuses we hear every time is that "I am too tired to do that when I get home. I need to rest first and then will do it." Wasn't this your excuse? Delayed cleanse makes your skin more stressful from covered makeup. If you remember your skin condition the next morning when you skipped cleansing the night before, do not skip it from now.

How to Manage Enlarged Pores

Just by observing someone's behavior of looking at mirror, we can tell whether the person concerns about his/her skin. People with no skin problems just look at their overall facial condition. However, people with skin problems draw their face closer to a mirror.

pores_002One of the main reasons of enlarging pores is sebum. Excessive sebum secretion accumulates wastes and impurities in the entrance of pores and sebum secretion becomes inactive and make pores larger. Thus, people with greater amounts of sebum have larger pores. People with Oily skin type tend to have larger pores than people with dry skin.

1. Through cleansing is the basis to manage pores.

The best method to prevent pores from being larger is to make an environment where wastes cannot easily accumulate in pores. In order to do so, through cleansing is the basis. Before washing your face using a foam cleanser, cleanse your face using warm water first then foam cleanse afterward.

2. Cold Packs tightens poresenlarged-tightened-pores

You can use cold packs to tighten your pores. However, if you have a sensitive skin, be careful when using cold packs since these may irritate a capillary. The best way to do this is to soak a cloth or towel in water and keep it in a refrigerator and then apply on your face.

3. Maintain healthy pores with massages

Massages is good for maintaining elastic skin and for preventing pores from enlarging. While washing you face or applying cosmetics, patting your face using fingers is a good massage.

4. Healthy lifestyle for healthy pores

People with beautiful skin tend to maintain balanced life style. First of all, they go to bed early and are early risers. These people have elastic skin with tightened pores because their skin has less tiredness compared to people staying up late or have irregular lifestyles. Less tired skin prevents fine wrinkles, freckles and pores from enlarging. In addition, alcohol and smoke are two greatest enemies against pores. Alcohol and smokes promotes sebum secretion and causes enlarged pores.

5. Pay attention to acne management

Pimples or acnes are symptoms of enlarged pores. Due to pimples and acnes, blackheads and dark spots appear in pores as well. Therefore, stop squeezing out your pimple and go see your doctor or receive a professional treatment. In addition, oriental facial mask sheets are effective in removing blackheads (They are hard to find in the states though).

It is a natural process that our skin becomes inelastic and pores become bigger as we age. Gravity makes our skin sagging and wastes and impurities accumulated during days and nights cause skin problems and help pores enlarge. Although we cannot go against this natural process, we can slow down the aging of the skin by managing our skin with skin cares. The effort to maintain your youth is an expression of loving yourself and valuing yourself.

Face Cleansing for Different Skin Types

Cleansing should be differentiated based on skin types.

Removing makeup is more important than applying makeup. Although you decorated your face with beautiful colors of cosmetic products, if you are negligent in removing makeup, your skin will become dull in a few days. Then, your makeup effort will not make your face glossy and shiny anymore. This important cleansing cannot be done with any kinds of products. This article talks about wise cleansing methods based on your skin type in order to make your skin clean and clear.

Cleansing method differs for different skin types.

Oily skin:

Due to excessive sebum and sweat secretions, this type of skin requires more delicate washing and cleansing because dirt and impurities are more easily attached to oily skin.

How to cleanse for oily skin:
1. Remove makeup using cleansing water or cleansing wipes.
2. Use oil-free type cleansing products to melt down sebum and makeup. Gently push your face with a wipe.
3. Using a foam cleanser, wash your face thoroughly.
4. Deep cleansing is required using exfoliator only 1-2 times a week.

Dry skin:

Due to dehydrated skin, keratin easily appears on the skin. Dry skin can be sensitive and fine wrinkles appear when the skin is too tight.

How to cleanse for dry skin:
1. Less irritant and smooth cleansing lotion should be used to remove makeup.
2. Use gel tyle foam cleanser to wash your face with warm temperature of water.
3. Then splash your face using cold water 4-5 times in order to maintain skin elasticity.
4. After washing your face, moisturize your skin with toner and essence.

Freckles and dark spots:

Eliminating keratin using exfoliator
After removing eye makeup, gently rub your face using cleansing lotion or cream and wipe off with tissue. Then wash off using a foam cleanser.
By using a less irritant exfoliator, you can exfoliate your face and prevent from accumulating keratin and wastes in pores.

How to remove point makeup

Point makeup means eye makeup such as eyeshadow, eye line, mascara and lipsticks etc. Since these point makeup products contain ingredients that can build up skin pigments, your skin around the eyes and mouth can build up melanin pigments unless you cleanse these areas using a proper method.

First, apply eye makeup remover on a cotton ball and put it on your eye. Using a q tips, remove all eye makeups. Do the same for lip makeup. You can easily remove lip makeup after putting a remover applied cottan ball on your lips.

Tips to maximize cleansing effects

1. Cold water has a soothing effect. After washing off using warm water, you can splash with cold water to minimize pores and to increase elasticity.
2. Lukewarm water is good for washing your hands and sweats. But it is not good for removing keratin.
3. Warm water is good for cleansing. Warm temperature is good for washing, blood circulation and removing keratin.
4. Hot water must be avoided for sensitive skin. Although hot water is very good for cleansing and removing keratin, it can decrease your skin elasticity so splash using cold water afterward.
5. Steamed towel is good food for removing keratin so is used before deep cleansing. But you should be careful that if it is used too often, capillaries can be enlarged.

Skin

Dr. Terry Dubrow's wife, Heather Paige Kent, star of the CBS drama That's Life, awoke one morning, appalled. "Terry, look at my face! I've totally broken out. I'm due on the set in three days. Is there anything you can do?"

Of course, Heather knew that her husband, a board-certified plastic surgeon and director of the Acne Clinic of Newport Beach, California, had been working on protocols to cure acne quickly and safely. What she didn't yet know was that he had finally found the answer. The panic she felt was based on her assumption that acne is only partially treatable, if at all.

That assumption is false. This is the truth:

"Using the techniques outlined in this book, acne can be completely eliminated in 95 percent of all cases-even the most severe ones-in 6 weeks or less. These techniques start to work in 24 hours."

In the remaining 5 percent of the cases, the Acne Cure program will generally reduce the severity of acne. Later in the book, we will discuss what additional steps you can take to get rid of the remaining traces of the disease-even the toughest cases.

Wheather you're White, Black, Asian, or Hispanic; whether you're a teenage boy with pimples or a mature man sufferrazor bumps and ingrown beard hairs; whether you're a teenage girl who feels she can't get a date because of her zits, or a woman whose face is disfigured by the blotchy inflammation of severe acne, your condition can be cured.

When we say "cured," we mean that in almost all cases-even the thoughest-the acne cure program we describe in this book will eliminate virtually all blemishes, inflammation, redness, whiteheads, and blackheads within no more than 6 weeks. Milder cases may be resolved in only a few days or even-as in Heather's case-overnight.

Sure, there may be recurrences (although they are unlikely if you stick to the maintenance program), but they too can be rapidly resolved, usually in just a few days.

And if that isn't a cure, we don't know what is!

Some purists argue that getting rid of the symptoms but knowing that in some cases they may return means that this is not a full cure. All we know is that, like hundreds of Dr. Dubrow's other patients, male and female, Heather's acne disappeared. Three days after her skin eruptions, Heather went back to work with a smile on her face and not a blemish in sight.

In the next few chapters, we will describe exactly how the cure works. However, first you have to understand what skin is, how it works, and what you can do to keep it healthy throughout your life.

Not only is healthy skin less likely to be attacked by acne or other skin diseases, but it also looks so much better.

And who doesn't want young-looking, healthy, glowing acne-free skin?
