Wrong Facial Cleansing Methods

I'm lazy and I am not a big fan of makeup.

It does help and the main reason for this is my laziness of removing makeup. As you all know, cleansing is the first step for skin care. Since removing makeup is more important than makeup, women taking care of their skin devote to thorough cleansing every night. Not only removing makeup but accumulated dirt and impurities in and on your skin throughout a day must be removed in order to protect your skin.

Cleansing is this much important. However, watch out for wrong ways while cleansing your face because incorrect cleansing can make your skin even drier and rougher. Now is the time for you to review how you've cleansed your face.

7 Wrong Cleansing Methods

1. "Cleansing is too troublesome" - Loosely cleansing type with no foam!

Cleansing is not to rub your face aggressively with your palms but to use foam. In other words, foam acts like a cushion so it prevent skin irritation that can be done by palms. When cleansing, more and thicker foaming means less irritation and can cleanly cleanse your face. Therefore, after you squeeze out cleansing foam on your palm, take enough time to make foams using your both hands. In addition, even before making these foams, wash your hands first. Cleansing foams made by dirty hands contain wastes.

2. "Longer rubbing massage is always better" - Timing of rubbing your face is too long!

Cleansing products containing oils need 2-3 minutes of massage. But this doesn't mean that more than 3 minutes of massage will make your face more clean. Rather, too much rubbing cause skin irritation and makeup leftovers absorbed by the cleanser might be back to your skin. The best cleansing products are to dissolve makeup quickly, not to curdle with skin and to be easily rinsed off with water.

3. "Hard rubbing makes me feel secure" - Cleansing with rough texture!

Hard rubbing massage in order to eliminate wastes is an old-fashioned idea. Hard rubbing irritates, dehydrates skin, lowers skin elasticity and accelerates the aging of the skin. If you'd like to do deep cleansing, use different methods such as covering your face using a warm steamed towel in order to open your pores and then cleanse impurities in opened pores. If you have severe keratin problems, you may use effectively working exfoliators. (Warning: Avoid the areas of eyes and mouth where skin's stratum corneum is thinner and metabolism rate is lower than other areas of your face) After deep cleansing, make sure to tighten your pores back by splashing with cold water and applying skin toners for oily skin type.

4. "I feel clean wash after wash" - Repetitive cleansing type!

Some people boast about their 5-6 steps of cleansing skin care. But they might be rather harmful to your skin. Cleansing is a process of eliminating wastes on your skin. But the above skin care method may absorb even necessary moisture from your skin. Excessive cleansing cause your skin drier and even more sensitive so avoid several steps of cleansing. Distinguish between point makeup and base makeup. Then using your best cleansing product, double cleansing is the best cleansing method.

5. "I use cold water to prevent pores from getting bigger" - Cold water cleansing type!

I've mentioned in my other articles that splashing with cold water tightens your pores. Some people are too afraid of their pores to become enlarged so they wash with cold water. This is a wrong knowledge. Cold water does not remove impurities on your face. This contributes to more accumulation of wastes and impurities so the consequence is the opposite of what you wanted to prevent. Enlarged pores.... This is why the proper method of cleansing is to use warm water with foam cleanser first.

6. "I use only water for morning cleanse" - Dry skin using only water for morning cleanse!

Our skin is contaminated while sleeping from sebum and impurities in the air. Morning cleanse is the beginning step of taking care of your skin. Thoroughly cleansed face absorbs moisture and makeup more effectively.

7. "I remove makeup right before sleep" - Cleansing right before going to bed type!

The basic of basics is to remove makeup right after coming back home from outside. However, one of the most common excuses we hear every time is that "I am too tired to do that when I get home. I need to rest first and then will do it." Wasn't this your excuse? Delayed cleanse makes your skin more stressful from covered makeup. If you remember your skin condition the next morning when you skipped cleansing the night before, do not skip it from now.
